Cape Verde Weather

Cape Verde has all year warm weather which is ideal for sailing and surfing.

Lying in the Trade Winds belt, with a gentle Atlantic swell, Cape Verde conditions are perfect for sailing or surfing. Cape Verde winter winds are steady Force 4 to Force 5, but slacken in summer. National teams come to Sal, Cape Verdes for winter wind and kite surf training. Board surfing conditions in winter are excellent and Ponta Preta on Sal, Cape Verdes has one of the best breaks in the world. Sea temperatures are warm enough to make swimming a real pleasure. And you neither need to heat the swimming pool nor air-condition the villa, thanks to their clever architectural design which encourages airflow through the venturi effect.

Cape Verde Property - News Update

New for Sal Island is Beach Resort, Sal Island, Cape Verde

About Sal Island - Sal Island - the jewel in the Cape Verde crown

The island of Sal - the most popular and developed in the Cape Verde archipelago - is well on its way to becoming one of the world's top tourist destinations. Regular flights from the UK to Sal's established international airport whisk holidaymakers in only a few hours to crystal clear seas, endless white beaches, adventurous water sports and great night life.

Just 30km long and 12km wide, Sal is a jewel of a tropical island. The charming town of Santa Maria at its southernmost tip is the main tourist resort, with beachside restaurants, fascinating shops, a lovely town square, and local musicians playing Cape Verdean classics. Other attractions include the town of Espargos with its variety of shops, bars and restaurants, the salt flats of Pedra de Lume and the port town of Palmeria.

Sal is at the very heart of the investment excitement, which surrounds Cape Verde. The government is investing significantly in creating a modern, world class tourist destination. And with its rapidly developing local infrastructure, growing number of scheduled flights, increasingly sophisticated tourist facilities, five star hotel, two new golf courses designed by Ernie Els, and plans for an upmarket marina, major tour operators are already looking for more and more rental stock.

Its unique combination of natural and developmental benefits makes Sal the definitive choice over all its island neighbours - and there's never been a better time or opportunity to invest.

A Boost to Cape Verde

Cape Verde could see a major boost in tourism figures according to travel and property experts thanks to the launch of a new inter-island ferry service.

Up until now the only way to get across from one island to another in Cape Verde has been by aeroplane, and real estate experts believe the new transport links could have a huge and positive impact to tourism and of course anyone who has a property to rent. This cheaper and more effective way of travel between the islands is believed to become very popular to the under-25s market travelling to Cape Verde, articularly to enjoy the outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing and kite-surfing.

Cape Verde has already received a number of great tourism boosts in 2009. It was ranked as number 4 out of Expedia’s ‘Top 10 Destinations to visit worldwide’ for its ‘Year-round sunshine, white sandy beaches and Creole culture. A perfect mix to offer you a relaxing holiday.” New Zealand was ranked at number 1, followed by Argentina and China.

In addition, Cape Verde’s capital city Praia was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site – again boosting the countries’ tourism figures. With more and more exciting developments evolving from this emerging market, Cape Verde is well and truly on the map. It is evident that Cape Verde continues to grow in popularity in terms of travel, holiday and as an investment hot spot for many people around the globe. We firmly believe that this emerging market will only become more buoyant and more visible on the world stage as time goes by... becoming the new Caribbean for Europe!

Cape Verde

Santiago has about half of the 482,000 Caprve Islands population with tourism being largely concentrated in the island of Sal. The island of Sal has the regions only international airport capable of servicing flights to and from Europe and beyond. There are pland to open further and larger international airports in Santiago, San Vicente, and Boa Vista.

What the experts say about Cape Verde

Property Investor News:

"Investment Property in Cape Verde is currently one of the best locations worldwide to buy property when looking for a good ROI (Return on Investment). It’s clear to see the potential of these islands and as soon as Cape Verde becomes a mainstream holiday destination the price of property there will almost certainly increase drastically."

Expedia.co.uk:

A survey conducted by Expedia, one of the largest web based holiday companies, recently declared Cape Verde the number one destination for British tourists this year. Elyas Chowdhury, marketing director of Expedia.co.uk observed, "Our customers prefer to head off the beaten track rather than continue to go back to traditional tourist hot spots".

He also said "all-year-round sunshine, white beaches and the Creole culture had helped to make Cape Verde the top location for Britain's most jet-setting tourists.
